Srinagar, Jan 16 (KNO): The Employees Joint Consultative Committee (EJCC) staged a protest at Srinagar’s Press Enclave on Thursday, demanding the release of the pending Dearness Allowance (DA) and GP fund. Chanting slogans “Inqalaab Zindabad” and “We want justice”, the protestors called for immediate action from the authorities. According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the demonstration was short-lived as police intervened and dispersed the protestors soon after they gathered at press enclave Srinagar. Similarly, as frustrated with a seven-month delay in the release of the 3% DA and seeking the regularization of daily wagers, the Employees Joint Consultative Committee (EJCC) announced plans for further demonstrations in both Jammu and Srinagar. Aijaz Ahmad Khan, Chairman of the EJCC, earlier said the delay has caused significant distress among employees. “We will not stop until our demands are met,” he said—(KNO)
